Zearalenone is
an oestrogenic compound, also known as F-2 mycotoxin, which
occurs mainly in corn, sorghum, wheat, barley but also in
banana's, bean leaves, etc. Zearalenone is produced by the
moulds Fusarium roseum, F. culmorum, F. moniliforme
and F. graminiarum. The antibody used in this test
cross-reacts with zearalenone and its main metabolites, but
also with zeranol and its main metabolites. However, zeranol
as anabolic compound does not occur in cereals, etc. The
Zearalenone EIA can be used in combination with a fast and
simple extraction procedure, or after a solid phase
extraction method. |
